The primary aim of this project is to preserve the personal memories of young white South African guys who were conscripted into military service in what was once known as the South African Defence Force, the SADF. It is obvious that there is so little information covering this important subject online, so before we forget altogether ...
 Buffel and driver

A night out in the bush
This documentary about the once compulsory two year period of national service is a homage for all the thousands of young guys who were called up to serve in the SADF, especially those who fought to secure the borders of Southern Africa. This project is also for those of you who may have forgotten what it was like for those of us who were there.

Although this website appears to cover the experiences of white soldiers only, it does not mean to disregard the fact that men and women of all races served in the SADF. The difference lies therein that members of other races were volunteers who had a choice whether they wanted to serve or not. White South African men had no choice and were rigorously conscripted from the age of 18 onwards. In spite of this, it should be said that this website is dedicated to all who served!

Please also note that there is absolutly no political motivation behind this work!
